Incision History of the Three Gorges, Yangtze River Constrained From Inversion of River Profiles and Low‐Temperature Thermochronological Data

چکیده
We reconstruct the incision history of bedrock rivers based on inverse modeling long profile a river channel and low-temperature thermochronological data. Our approach first infers an erodibility-dependent through linear inversion elevations river. Then to calibrate reconstructed in geological timescale, we constrain erosional efficiency by optimizing erosion process catchment using Bayesian analysis, such that exhumation cooling paths bedrocks conform observed ages. apply this estimate Three Gorges, Yangtze River East Asia. modeled histories three tributaries mainstem near eastern end Gorges area, assuming gorge was driven increased upstream drainage area Upper (Scenario 1) or local tectonic uplift 2). The results both scenarios suggest early Miocene onset is, 18 ± 6 Ma 21 4 Ma, respectively. During Pliocene, our models significant decrease rate. By comparing estimated late Cenozoic denudation Tibetan Plateau regional climate change, has been heavily affected development Asian monsoon.

Impact of the Three Gorges Dam on the Hydrology and Ecology of the Yangtze River
Construction and operation of the Three Gorges Dam (TGD) has significantly altered the downstream hydrological regime along the Yangtze River, which has in turn affected the environment, biodiversity and morphological configuration, and human development. The ecological and environmental systems of the middle and lower Yangtze River have been affected adversely, with the ecosystems of Poyang La...

15 صفحه اولMalaria transmission potential in the Three Gorges Reservoir of the Yangtze River, China.
OBJECTIVE To define and evaluate the malaria transmission potential in the Yangtze River, following construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir. METHODS Six villages, namely, Kaixian, Fengjie, Wanzhou, Fuling, Yubei, and Zigui were selected for investigating the malaria transmission potential in the reservoir. Transmission potential was estimated by mathematical modeling and evaluation of the ...

متن کاملDetection of the Three Gorges Dam influence on the Changjiang (Yangtze River) submerged delta
While most large river-deltas in the world are facing the risk of subsidence and erosion in the Anthropocene, it is suspected that the Changjiang submerged delta (CSD) could be subjected to the impacts of the world's largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam (TGD). Here we firstly indicate that the CSD went through high accumulation (1958-1978); slight accumulation (1978-1997), slight erosion (1997-200...
